Passport Applications

Law is not a profession at all, but rather a business sevice station and repair shop.

At Anwar Immigration Law Office, we guide applicants through the updated identity requirements for Canadian passport applications. Individuals aged 16 and over must provide government-issued identification either from Canada or an equivalent authority abroad that clearly shows their name, date of birth, sex, photograph, and signature. If a single document does not include all these elements, multiple supporting documents may be submitted; however, missing any required detail can result in refusal of the application.

If you are applying for a passport under a different surname (such as after marriage or a common-law relationship), you must provide official supporting documents along with your birth or citizenship certificate. These may include a marriage certificate, common-law certificate, divorce order, separation agreement, dissolution certificate, or a resumption of surname certificate. Importantly, the identification you submit must reflect the surname you are requesting on your passport.

It is essential to report lost or stolen passports to Passport Canada immediately, as replacement fees apply. For Canadians living abroad, the guarantor process has been simplified allowing either an individual with a valid or recently expired Canadian passport or a qualified professional (such as a doctor, lawyer, or police officer) to act as guarantor. If your passport application is refused or revoked, you may seek judicial review through the Federal Court. At Anwar Immigration Law Office, we assess your case and provide strategic guidance on appeals and legal remedies.
